About the Team
The SPMC Smart Metering Team are responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting of our Smart Metering solution. The team are the first touchpoint for service management a gateway into the rest of the networks team.
The prime role is to provide front line operational capabilities – from a front line perspective in a 24×7 NOC environment. Monitoring live operational alert screens and dashboards, raising trouble tickets and resolving faults where possible and managing the escalation process where required.
About the role
With your technical expertise, you’ll oversee the Smart Metering platform that makes up the ‘Smart Metering infrastructure’. The unique design encompasses many technologies from a diverse vendor set.
What We Need from You:
As well as monitoring, your role will include identifying, diagnosing and fixing faults.
You will also be involved in the Operational Acceptance Testing of new environments as they are built and added to the network and existing environments as they are upgraded.
You will contribute to design, build, and OSS systems. You will be an integral point for operations, the wider business and will interact with many different internal and external teams with differing specialisations as well as external 3rd parties and vendors.
The nature of the technologies will range from traditional IP networks and security, to IPV6 with a major focus on Linux / Unix infrastructure and applications.
The systems you will be dealing with are Cisco Nexus and ASA, F5, RHEL, Dell, HP, Oracle, Checkpoint and BlueCat to name a few.
You will be first point of engagement within the wider Networks domain for faults coming via the Smart Meter Service Desk from the DCC. You will also be liaising with various Smart Metering specific and wider internal teams and stakeholders. In addition you will be first point of contact for Service and Incident Management around Smart Metering issues.
